Does user interface really matter?
I've been using a few programs for...well, not all my life, but probably since the beginning of 2000s. While there are a lot of different programs to choose from for everything you do these days, what is it that makes me use one or the other program or app? As one thing it's definitely the features it has, the features that you need, but at least for me it's definitely also about the simplicity and about the features they don't have.

Towards the miracle: apple product cycle

2011-10-16 05:17:40

Apple product cycle explains the steps throughout the whole technological and product development proceeds. After its foundation, apple is not only confined into mere devices, rather it has spread out the skills, talents and innovations to all the users around the world by imposing new features and attributes in its developed products. There are several stages through which apple has implemented its technology and delivered the comfort to its customers through smart advancements.

The cycle moves through these steps: some product and new technology have entered into the feasibility stage that is the most important stage of implementation. There are some contributions by Mac enthusiasts who generate some ideas about some tech advancement and discuss about how wonderful apple would be to show up with those wonderful concepts. And eventually these discussions lead to refine more features and new products. However, Steve jobs used to bash all the rumors but had the focus on creating something more beautiful than those mostly rumored. This is an interesting strategy in apple product cycle where apple introduces the rumored product or makes an end of it. However, the cycle does not stop here. It can restart itself for a number of times for the same product. Mac tablet sets a good example for the multiple restart of the product.

When a product is rumored and Steve jobs used to reject the rumor, most of the time it started to revive again. An announcement before introducing a new product which has been largely rumored it is imminent even if jobs ignored it. Technologies (H. 264, cheaper Macs, low bandwidth cost) etc. strengthen expert's belief on the introduction of the most rumored product. If the system in action is analyzed, several things will be clear. Before the introduction of Mac mini, apple had made plans on competing in the sub $800 desktop market in the future. After applying the system to the video iPod, it moved to the step of apple product cycle where apple wanted to become the triumphant in post-iPod era.

Now PSP is considered to be comparable to some extent to Rio and Archos devices of early days' digital music stores. PSP as the portable video player merely serves the curiosity of people. But with little changes like modification or addition can attain attention from customers. If apple wants to lead in tis portable devices, more idea generation is required where it can apply and achieve success to beat others from competition. However, the strategies applied by apple to take up for the purpose of dominating portable digital media need to be implemented soon since it is in the critical position in the apple product cycle.
